At The Heart of BQEF

We find that listening to and following the Spirit leads to beliefs in:

  • Equality – treating everyone, everywhere, as equally precious to God; recognizing that everyone has gifts to share.

    Peace & Social Justice – seeking justice and healing for all people; taking away the causes of war and conflict in the ways we live.

    Integrity – living as whole people who act on what we believe, tell the truth and do what we say we will do.

    Simplicity – focusing on what is truly important and letting other things fall away.

    Community – supporting one another in our faith journeys and in times of joy and sorrow; sharing with and caring for each other.

    Stewardship  – valuing and respecting all of creation; using only our fair share of the earth’s resources; working for policies that protect the planet.ion text goes here

As an expression of our testimonies, BQEF seeks to:

  • Forge paths of multiculturalism and inclusion that enable mutual learning and solidarity among Quakers from Bolivia, the US, and UK;

  • Support indigenous Bolivians in their efforts to obtain a higher education and in their pursuit of work that embodies Quaker testimonies;

  • Provide young Quakers with opportunities for growth, leadership, community service, and social justice work;

  • Support the concerns of Bolivian Quakers regarding  the impacts of climate change;

  • Provide practical experience in the Peace Testimony by supporting peace-making work, like Alternatives to Violence Workshops. 

As we work to accomplish these goals, we anticipate:

  • Increased collaboration and resource sharing between Bolivian Quakers and international Quaker communities.

  • Innovative educational and social justice events, projects, or programs that reflect Quaker values and local cultural contexts.

  • Improved participation of F/friends in Quaker networks in Bolivia, and in the Global North.

BQEF supports educational opportunities for Bolivian F/friends through scholarships and programs rooted in Quaker Testimonies, while promoting cross-cultural mutual learning with Quakers from the Global North.
