UPDATE: Virginia has completed her studies and graduated with a degree in Education.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Virginia is finishing her thesis to obtain a bachelor's degree in Education at the Salesian University of Bolivia. She was always interested in learning more about “real” education; however, she had temporary teachers and was not prepared academically or professionally. She was able to enter college and is now a professional educator. With the training she has received at the university, she can help the children and young people in her community with their educational needs. Her favorite subject is learning about the educational curriculum.
Virginia’s family includes her mother and 3 brothers. Her father died when she was young. Her mother, who suffers from Gall Bladder disease, lives in Ulla Ulla, Franz Tamayo Province, where she takes care of cattle. Virginia lives in El Alto and is a member of Amigos Central Yearly Meeting. In her spare time, she knits sweaters, spins yarn, and makes blankets to sell to cover her expenses.
Virginia’s studies are sponsored by a group from Redwood Forest Friends Meeting. She has had a BQEF scholarship since 2006.
