Come take a video tour of the Internado in Sorata!
» Submitted by Geoff on Wed, 04/08/2009 - 04:22. »This video was taken in on February 26, 2009, during Geoff Garver and Vickey Kaiser's visit to the Internado in Sorata, Bolivia. Take this video tour of the internado to see where the Internado students (internos) sleep, study, eat and hang out with their fellow students, along with Benito, the Internado administrator, and his parents Eusebio and Maria, the Internado house parents. The Internado is a family-style weekday residence, close to the internos' school, saving them hours of walking to and from school from their remote villages (which they do return home to each weekend). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEOXqyL5SkY

Selma is a historic town: in 1965 a march for 5 days began from Selma to Alabama's capital, calling for respect of their rights and succeeded with the African-Americans liberation(?) Dr. Martin Luther King. We visited the... Museums and Libraries, known to Mrs. Afriye We-kandodis, who is a very special friend to me. I talk with her alot, always follow her advice. Quaker Community Service Trip to Bolivia in June 2009
» Submitted by Vickey on Sat, 10/25/2008 - 16:54. »BQEF Board member Barbara Flynn is leading a Quaker community service trip to Bolivia June 13-27, 2009.
While not a BQEF-sponsored activity, the trip sounds so good we wanted to share it with you. Information
below is taken from Barbara's Treasures of the Andes website:
Explore the Magic of the Bolivian Andes: home of a culture older than the Incas with legendary historical sites (and over 30,000 Quakers). Spectacular vistas and towering peaks, lush valleys and the sacred Lake Titiikaka. Center of a democratic grassroots social revolution ending 5 centuries of "apartheid".
